Black Ant Gourmet

30KW Commercial Solar Installation

Project: Hospitality
Jody, owner of Black Ant, was keen to reduce her business power bills as well as minimise her impact on the environment. She has a successful growing business but wants sustainable growth so her success was not a negative impact on her surroundings.

Outcome:

Black Ant are very pleased at being able to achieve their goals with a $200 a month reduction in power outgoings even after monthly finance costs. With advice from Solaron they have also achieved a better deal from their power retailer, so are in a much better cost situation with solar than without. By generating a large percentage of their power onsite the growth of the business has not impacted the environment and the business is an asset to the local community.

Testimonial:

" We operate a commercial business in the small rural town called Kin Kin in the Noosa Shire. We are always striving for a lower carbon foot print by farming, buying and supplying local food and products. We employ locals. We provide our own water by having water tanks. We have our own effluent disposal system. And now we are contributing towards our own power with the aim of being fully self-sufficient. We are so pleased with our new Solaron system......not only was the installation well-coordinated, but we were always kept in the loop for the whole process. The follow up has been great. As a commercial business, we consume quite a bit of power, and I needed to know the savings would add up. I am so pleased to say that we are saving more than what we were told we should.....very happy. "

Betta Built Cabinets

30KW Commercial Solar Installation

Project: Construction
As Norm was under an unattractive power contract he could do little to reduce his power bills and solar would also not deliver the results he was seeking. With Solaron’s experience in the energy market and billing, Norm was able to migrate to a better tariff situation which allowed the solar to be much more effective. Norm’s business also has a sublet tenancy so he was looking to gain some benefit from their power use.

Outcome:

As a result of the reduced consumption through the onsite generation Solaron migrated Betta Built to a much better tariff situation. Norm’s solar system is powering much of his business power now so he is less reliant on the grid. With a sublet meter for the tenancy Norm is also selling power to his tenant so making even more money from his investment. It is easy to see in the images above, power bill before and after solar installation, how big the impact has been on his business.

Boardman Sand & Gravel Pty Ltd

15KW Solar Installation

Project: Transport Industry
The site had a change of power use after a large cold storage facility was shut down, 7 months prior to Solaron’s first contact with them. This left the owners stuck on an expensive power contract paying much more than they should. Solaron suggested reducing their consumption even further with solar power and migrating to a different tariff structure.

Outcome:

Solaron negotiated, on the client’s behalf, with the power retailer and migrated Boardman Sand and Gravel to a better tariff structure. The solution was 100% financed and savings were substantially over the cost of ownership. The graph in the photos from their power bill shows the impact solar power has had on their business costs.

Testimonial:

"After looking at my power bills Solaron showed me that the power tariff I was on was not the best one for my business. They explained how changing my billing structure and adding solar would more than cover the fully financed cost of the solar solution. The team at Solaron took care of the whole process from dealing with my power retailer, Energex and are regularly checking my bills to ensure I am on track. I have had the system operational now for 4 months and my savings well exceed the cost of finance. Great to see a company that delivers more than they promise and support is top notch."

Complete Joinery Brendale

39.2KW Solar Installation

Project: Construction Industry
Mick from Complete Joinery had been researching commercial solar and had contacted seven different solar companies. They were convinced that solar was not viable for them. Solaron took a different approach and after analysing their situation made changes to the power tariff structure with their existing retailer, as well as installing a 39.2kw solar system. The changes will result in paying less for the same power use and be less reliant on grid power.

Outcome:

With the new tariff structure and solar system their initial outlay will be fully recovered in 1.8 years! This is a great result and a lot better outcome than if they just kept on paying their ever-increasing power bill. The savings in power reduce the operational costs of the business and also provides them with "green" marketing credentials as an environmentally focused, sustainable business.

Residential Mooloolaba

15kw Critical Power and Solar Installation

Project: Critical Power
The client needed guaranteed power in his home to prevent his basement flooding during power outages and to keep key services, internet, lighting and refrigeration operational when the grid was down.

Outcome:

During a recent cyclone this property was the only house in the street to have lights on during the coast wide power outage. The basement did not flood and garage door remained operational. No spoilage in the fridge and the client’s PC’s and business communications stayed fully operational. The installation is described as a “work of art” by the client. He is very happy with the quality and results.

Testimonial:

Ron and the team at Solaron are amazing, they were on time, efficient and on budget. The best part of the relationship with Ron and his team, is that they are fully committed to delivering you a system that meets your individual requirements. Ron took his time to carefully understand and then research what would be required to meet our unusual situation. He then delivered us a system that suited what we needed today but was fully scalable to meet any future changes. The installation itself is a “work of art”. The guys took the time to position everything carefully and methodically. Thanks Ron, I could not have wished for anything more.

Everton Engineering

30KW Commercial Solar Installation

Project: Manufacturing
Everton’s owner, Mike, could see his energy costs increasing and decided that now was the time to do something about it. As an engineering business owner Mike understands how both design and quality impact any long-term solution. The team at Everton’s Engineering felt that Solaron ticked all the boxes when analysing the requirements for a great solution.

Outcome:

Mike was very pleased with the whole process from planning to completed installation. The SMA app on his mobile shows him both solar production and business power use so he is confident that the system delivers what he has paid for. The result is a cash flow positive asset that saves his business more each month than the 100% financed payment.

Testimonial:

"Very happy”, is Mike’s response to how his system is going. Solaron have also provided advice on a billing issue including contact with his power retailer to resolve past meter issues. Mike is now wanting to make his system bigger. He is fully confident in what Solaron can provide.

Large Residential Doonan

46.2kw solar PV and 120kwh battery storage

Project: Off Grid
The owners of this substantial property are passionate about self-sufficiency and disconnecting from the grid was a priority. The site has two heated swimming pools, ducted AC, guest house, steam shower and numerous other loads. After consulting with a number of suppliers, many who felt it was beyond their scope, the clients felt confident that Solaron could deliver the solution they were after.

Outcome:

Solaron has installed both a rooftop and large ground mount array at the site. This feeds power to a dedicated battery hut with 10 tonnes of batteries and a backup diesel generator. The system is fully automatic and totally managed to maximise solar power with minimal generator use. As Solaron is QBCC licenced we can build structures as required for any size project. In this case it included a polymer frame for the ground mount array and a custom battery storage hut.

The site now uses zero grid power and rarely any diesel, so the clients are happily self-sufficient in their beautiful location.

Testimonial:

We had spent several years watching our power bills increase dramatically, as is the case for everyone. We had also sought advice from solar suppliers about the possibility of going “off the grid”, but we were never confident in their level of expertise and knowledge. And then we met Ron Flynn, from Solaron

Ron immediately impressed us with his knowledge and enthusiasm, and together we all took on a project to lower our carbon footprint, and be done with those pesky utility bills. With perseverance, professionalism and personal commitment, the entire Solaron team achieved this goal, and all within general parameters of investment and time. The day we “pulled the plug” was a cause for celebration!

So a big and heartfelt thanks to Ron, in particular, who spent hours with suppliers, consultants, tradespeople and, of course, us …….as we also had to be educated from the ground up on this new technology.

We truly wish all of the Solaron team the best success in years to come.”

Pacific Crown Helicopters

39.2kw solar installation

Project: Aviation Industry
Past exposure to domestic solar meant the owners of Pacific Crown Helicopters were open to the possibility that it may benefit their business too. When Solaron began analysing their power bills a tariff error was noted. Solaron went into bat with their power retailer aiming to correct the error and achieve a refund for Pacific Crown.

Outcome:

After a number of phone calls and emails to and fro with the power retailer Solaron were able to secure a $63000.00 refund for Pacific Crown Helicopters. It is a complex process involving both the retailer and Energex so Solaron’s experience and knowledge of the power market enabled the substantial win for the client. Pacific Crown Helicopters were able to make a capital purchase of 39.2kw solar system and still have a large amount of their refund in the bank, where it belongs.

Testimonial:

"Having a solar system on my house I was open to looking at solar for my business. We were also relocating our helicopter service business to new purpose-built premises so the timing was right. When Solaron looked over our bills they noticed the high tariff and offered to negotiate on our behalf with our power retailer. We had raised the issue with our retailer previously but were advised the tariff was correct. After a few weeks of calls and emails to our retailer Solaron achieved a $63000.00 refund to our bank account, so very impressed and a great result. Our new commercial solar system has been fully covered by the refund and future business operating costs are down thanks to lower power bills. So good to work with a company like Solaron who know their stuff and understand what a business needs to achieve from a solar power investment.

If Solaron ask to see your power bill I suggest you get one out and show them ASAP!"

Versace Timbers Brendale

19.6kw and 31.36kw solar installations

Project: Construction Industry
Graham and Bill had researched solar previously but were unsure what the impact would be on their business. They had been talking to other solar companies but were not confident they could deliver the right solution. They have a large roof and a successful business and wanted to ensure that they had a long term, solid investment in solar. After contact and meetings with Solaron they were confident they had the right systems from the right company.

Outcome:

Their Brendale sites now generate more than 50% of their own power. The large power bill reduction makes their business more competitive in the market and less affected by any future grid tariff increases. They now have an asset being paid for by money they previously gave away to their power retailer.

YIB Caloundra

19.6kw and 31.36kw solar installations

Project: Professional Services
Cathy and the team at YIB wanted to lead by example. As business insurance and risk management consultants they felt that being able to generate much of their own power onsite reduced their risk as a business and was a way to give back to their surroundings. Kathy values quality and wanted a long-term investment she could rely on.

Outcome:

The team at YIB are really pleased that their AC and server room is now powered by the sun whenever it is shining. Solaron regularly check the system performance and provide advice on power tariffs, LED lighting and AC reductions via timers.

Jetmaster Fireplaces Brendale

100kw solar installation

PROJECT: manufacturer / Metal Fabrication INDUSTRY
As Australia’s leading fireplace manufacturer, you have probably seen Jetmaster’s quality fireplaces on TV programs like The Block. Jetmaster stay ahead of the pack via innovation so when approached by Solaron the director was open to hearing what we had to say. The Brendale site was on a very unattractive tariff due to the high amount of power used. We were confident solar would reduce their use to a level where we could move the site to a better tariff structure.

Outcome:

Over the next 5 years Jetmaster will be $22500.00 better off than they were just paying their old power bill. Over the next 10 years they will receive a clear profit of $207540.00, money that they would give away to their power retailer if they kept paying their power bill in full each month.

We now have approval from Energex to sell excess power from the system. At the 10.6 cent tariff rate we estimate a further $4500.00 per year benefit back to Jetmaster. This brings the total to $41,500.00 per annum.

Gear Factor Brendale

2 x 13kw solar systems

PROJECT: Service and retail Sector
Simon and Donna’s business, Gear Factor, is well known as the place to go for motor cross service and accessories. After nearly 2 years of research and reassurance from Solaron that it will work, they installed 2 x 13kw systems on their commercial sheds in Brendale and a 6.55kw system on their home.

We recommended a high export based tariff for Simon on the businesses as his usage was not high and primarily daytime loads.

Outcome:

The before and after results for the two commercial systems are tabled below:

Before Solar After Solar ( 16785kwh total )
Kwh per QTR billed Bill total Kwh per QTR billed Bill total Savings per QTR
5042 $1703.00 1400 $612.00 (credit) $2314.00

The key point here is that even if the systems were 100% financed the savings per month are greater than the finance repayment, so the solar solution is cash flow positive. After 3.7 years Simon will own the systems outright and the annual return of $9258.00 is all profit for him to keep. Over 10 years that’s $92k which had no cost to him at all.

Before Solar After Solar ( 16785kwh total )
kwh per month billed Bill total Kwh per month billed Bill total Savings per month
16917 $5800.00 10600 $2716.00 $3084.00

The key point here is that the solution is cash flow positive $375.00 per month after the 100% finance monthly payment. Over the next 5 years Jetmaster will be $22500.00 better off than they were just paying their old power bill. Over the next 10 years they will receive a clear profit of $207540.00, money that they would give away to their power retailer if they kept paying their power bill in full each month.

But wait….it gets even better!
Solaron kept working for Jetmaster post install and negotiated a power purchasing agreement PPA for their export power with AGL. We now have full Energex approval to sell excess power from the system. At the 10.6 cent tariff rate we estimate a further $4500.00 per year benefit back to Jetmaster. This brings the total to $41,500.00 per annum.

Testimonial:

“When we were first approached by Solaron we were sceptical as to how effective putting solar on our industrial building in Brendale Brisbane would be.

Solaron were completely transparent in their dealings with us advising us of our needs and the potential savings by looking at our electricity bills and our site.

We have been extremely happy with the service and installation provided and constant after sales support.

The savings have exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend anyone interested in solar to go ahead with Allan and his team.”

Burpengary Dental

15kw solar installation

PROJECT: Medical services
A modern dental practice has lots of high-tech equipment and AC running all day. The directors were keen to reduce their reliance on grid power and saw solar as a benefit to the planet.

Outcome:

Since installed the system has produced 47000 kwh of power that has been used to offset grid power or sold back to the grid for profit. Rita and John will have their initial outlay back in under 4 years, so they are very happy with their investment.

Testimonial:

“We had solar installed over 6 months ago on our building where we run our business. Before we had solar, we used to pay a ridiculous amount for our electricity bill. But now that bill is cut by half. Right from the first inquiry I made with Allan, all the way to installation and follow up, Allan has been outstanding with his knowledge and friendly, professional service. The whole process was smooth and very positive. I would thoroughly recommend this company to anyone considering solar. My only regret is not having contacted them sooner.”

17 Rocks Chocolate Seventeen Mile Rocks

17.36KW Solar Installation

PROJECT: Manufacturing
As Brisbane’s only true chocolate maker 17 Rocks is making it mark in the boutique chocolate scene here in Australia. From beans to final packaged product Annette and the team use only the best natural products for their creations. Solar power and sustainability were always high priorities so the system was installed before any production started.

Outcome:

Since mid Feb 2019 the system has produced over 6000kwh that was used to either offset grid power purchase or sold back to the grid. The estimated $1450 saved covers the financed cost of the solar system so there is no cost of ownership to the business. In 60 months from install the system is fully owned and savings each year are all profit to 17 Rocks. A big win for both the business and the environment.
